Heather

Meaning: admiration, good luck.

Scotch Heather or Ling Heather represents an evergreen branching shrub. Its scientific name is Calluna vulgaris, that is derived from the Greek word “Kallune,” that means “to clean or brush,” and the Latin word “vulgaris,” that means “common,” with the reference to the fact its twigs were once used for creating brooms.

Heather is the inhabitant of such courtiers as Ireland, Scotland, Scandinavia, Russia and North America.

The flower’s blooming time is late summer, from late July to November in the northern hemisphere. It is very interesting that in winter season the flowers may get brown color but still remain on the plants.

Heather bears the blossoms of various colors- from purple to red, from white to pink, from lavender to amethyst.

Nowadays it is widely used for floral arrangement and wedding.
