Field Woodrush

Luzula campestris represents a rush, which bears the common name of Field Wood-rush or Good Friday Grass. It is the member of the family Juncaceae.

This plant can be found throughout temperate regions of Europe and Asia. It can be met on all kinds of grassy areas, for instance, lawns, golf-courses and fields.

Field Wood-rush can grow from 5 cm up to 15 cm long, spreading by means of short horizontal stems. The stems give rise to new plants at the terminals. The flowers are borne in stem less clusters.

The plant bears deep green leaves covered by long silk-like hairs. This rush can be also named Good Friday Grass due to the fact it emerges around Easter time.
